Black Bess
Yet another magnificent travelling outfit is seen on the notorious Black Bess (aka Mistress McAnulty). Widely regarded as one of the more dangerous women attached to the British army, some whisper that she is in the employment of the service and thus more than familiar with the landing at Crown Point. (It is also rumoured that her voluminous petticoats may conceal armarments beyond those carried by all of the fairer sex.) In her wool travelling habit of very latest fashion and fetching beplumed chapeau crowning mischievous eyes and cherry lips, it is no wonder many a gentleman is lulled into a false sense of security! |
